This is actually a good battle. I kind of hope Rey's career is looked at before Eddie died as opposed to just his run after, which so many people seemed to hate.
Eddie was the man, and will probably win this by a lot, but Rey back in the day was amazing. He gets my vote, just. |

Love Rey, but his absolute best moments were with Eddie and Eddie had so much more on top of that too.

Without Eddie's death, Mysterio would not have had the success he's had.....

Gonna have to go with Eddie on this one.
Even before Eddie's death, Rey's mainevent run felt a little forced to me. |

I'm going with Eddie. I did however use your prerequisites for judging Rey's career, but took it a step further. I only judged Rey on the basis of his career up until that steroid thing. Have had no interest in him after that point, not because of the steroids but because he just seemed to quit trying. If it were based soley on their WCW runs, I'd say Rey, but as a whole he phoned it in and Eddie left it all in the ring.

Rey Mysterio
the most consistent performer in professional wrestling history not named Shawn Michaels. |

bollocks. The initial Rumble win/rise to the World title may not have happened as quickly as it did but guys "ride waves" all the time in wrestling. And Rey wasn't still winning World titles in 2011 because of Eddie Guerrero dying.

Eddie.
Felt he had a better career overall than Rey and in multiple divisions than Rey who was really great in the crusierweight division. |

Rey Mysterio, without a shadow of a doubt. I've enjoyed his in-ring work ever since I saw him come up in WCW.
"Latino Heat" had more charisma and was better on the mic, but Rey's in-ring work just was too good when he was at his peak. Back then, he botched very little (if at all). Two matches that stand out in my mind are one he had against Eddie at a Halloween Havoc (which was a classic), and another against Kurt Angle at Summerslam 2002. |

I looooooove rey Mysterio but had to go with EG simply because I enjoyed his out of the ring antics as much as I enjoyed his in ring ability. Noone has ever made the frog splash so interesting or look more deadly. He reminded me why I use to root for the bad guy. EG was a diverse character he could play heel or face but was best as an anti hero. R.I.P. EG

Rey is wonderful, but I prefer Eddie on the mic and as a character and enjoyed his matches enough to the point where he's close enough to Rey to eliminate that advantage

It was a joke really trying to explain why he would be "overrated" because it isn't talent wise. Rey is one of my favorite luchos of all time. Rey is one of the few superstars that never needed a mic.
The joke was in reference to height. bad joke I guess! |

I had to go w/ Eddie bc he was an accurate portrayal of Mexicans. Lying, cheating and stealing. Plus he had a better workrate. 76.765 to Rey Rey's 67.837

I voted for Rey Mysterio. The dude was amazing back then, and even after trimming down his moveset for WWE, he put on some FANTASTIC matches on an almost daily basis. Somebody already mentioned his match with Kurt Angle that kicked off Summerslam 2002, and I would also like to give a shout to his Summerslam 2009 opener against Dolph Ziggler (fucking classic, if you ask me) and his Intercontinental title match versus John Morrison on Smackdown right before his suspension. I also got to see him wrestle Shawn Michaels live at a Smackdown taping, and that match was pretty awesome too.
Eddie was pretty cool, but Rey just amazed me with what he could do. I hope he returns soon. |

Rey is/was great, but like I said in the #268: Eddie's best those last few years was as good as anybody has ever done if not better. Eddie was also pretty damn good before that too.
