A Celebration of your life and accomplishments. You get one band to play your party
Who do you got?
Rules. 1) This band must have atleast two albums. 2) You need to be able to put together a set list of ten songs 3) Try to explain why you chose the song or band. What does it mean to you? What memories does it invoke. I know atleast three of you and Gertner will not follow the rules, so I'll call you a queer now and spoil something like The Walking Dead issue 100, later in your pm's. please don't be queer. Unless your seth or poit. In there case, be very queer. |

Marilyn Manson, deep, meaningful band. I've been a fan since 1999/2000. Very significant with a powerful message that can be interrupted in different ways. Inspirational and a strong figure with a cleaver over the top rock star ruse for fun from time to time, either way- the music helped me in several ways.
The realization. The fire will rise. Lunchbox. Coma Black Long Hard Road Out Of Hell Great Big White World "I am anything when I'm high" Dried up, Tied, and Dead to the World I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me ) The Love Song Kaboom Kaboom Born Villain Speed of Pain |

My first choice would be Flogging Molly, because they put on an outstanding live show, and I want my party to be a party.
Setlist: Seven Deadly Sins Devil's Dance Floor What's Left Of The Flag If I Ever Leave This World Alive The Speed of Darkness Requiem For A Dying Song Float Whistles The Wind Tobacco Island Drunken Lullabies If I was going for the band that means the most to me personally, it would be Brand New. Your Favorite Weapon and Deja Entendu were the soundtracks to my youth, and they were the first band where I really identified lyrically. Setlist: Sowing Season At The Bottom Jude Law And A Semester Abroad Seventy Times Seven Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades The No Seatbelt Song The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot Soco Amaretto Lime Jesus Christ The Quiet Things No One Ever Knows Untitled Encore (an extended band jam of Untitled off The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me that they pull out for encores sometimes. Watch this unfortunately low quality video, and get ready to turn your speakers down around 4:15.) So yep. |

Don't have time to compile the list, but it would almost certainly be Billy Joel.

Do they have to still be around? My first choice is Queen, but Freddie Mercury is dead and what's still out there just ain't Queen enough for me.
Set: This is the reason I got into Queen, because my mom was a huge Sean Connery fan. Because they make the Rockin' world go 'round. Soundtrack of my youth, almost literally. Because I'm very slightly mad. Combines my love of Queen, my love of folksy guitar, and my odd affair with scifi. Confrontational song and it has a nice funk feel to it. Because...I Want It All? Also, awesome guitar. Just one of my faves. Yes, it was a worthwhile experience (ahaha) 'Nuff said. |

Foo Fighters
Learn to Fly - Song always puts me in a good mood, usually will listen to it at least once a day on the way to work. All My Life - Love the chorus and the energy The Pretender - Again, the chorus and the energy My Hero - A slow feel good sort of song Wheels - The rhythm in this is one of my favorite parts of any Foo song. Easy For You To Say - Love how it sounds like a folk song at the start Rope - My favorite one of their songs Everlong - Second favorite and the one everyone knows And I will assume Courtney Love won't be a bitch here and allow Dave to play these Smells Like Teen Spirit Heart Shaped Box |

Nevermore.
Pretty much my favorite band, and their different songs and albums are tied to different times of my life and bring up different memories when I listen to them. 1. What Tomorrow Knows. The first track from Nevermore's debut album (self titled). It's not the first song I heard of Nevermore, but the lyrical content fits well to start off a "celebration of life"...because no one sees what tomorrow knows. 2. Deconstruction. This was the first Nevermore song I heard as far as I remember and it also came at an important period of my life. I believe I was in Junior High at the time and was just starting to come together as a person, getting into new things, among them was getting into music. Thus, my world was in deconstruction. 3. Believe in Nothing. This song came the year after the previous one, and I had just started high school, once again, undertaking great change. If in Junior High I was still coming into my own self, by the time I listened to this song, I felt that I had already found my true identity. The song echoes scepticism of the world, something I was full off at the time, and in a way, still am to this day. For example, in terms of religion, I still believe in Nothing. 4. Passenger. One of my favorite Nevermore songs and one that would fit neatly into the middle of a set that is meant to in some way, symbolize my life. Once more, its a philosophical song, juggling many ideas that I have myself juggled with all the time. 5. Politics of Ecstasy. Really heavy and represents a lot of the feelings I began to harbor throughout my latter years of high school. Political, philosophical, and as far as I know, true. 6. I, Voyager. Another random favorite of mine. This song has the distinction of randomly coming up in my mind at random times. Like, I'd be doing something mundane and would randomly start humming it. 7. Born Would be a good song to start off, but it is associated with a later period of my life during which I had very serious surgery. The lyical content of the song is simple, but the message is strong, and one that I wish more people listened to. 8. My Acid Words Just a song that I played heavily around a difficult time of my life. 9. The Heart Collector. Heavily associated with another difficult period of my life, in some ways, it reminds me of the trouble I faced back then, yet at the same time, even though it recalls those memories, it also "softens" them. 10. This Godless Endeavor. Pretty much summarizes my religious views. 11. Sentient 6. Just another song that gets a ridiculous amount of play at my house. 12. And the Maiden Spoke. Just because I had to include something from the band's final album and this is the one that first comes to mind. |
