Rate the Game: Week 91 (TAKE TWO! THE DO OVER!)
Happy new year to everyone here on TPWW and to all of your family. Hopefully good things are in store for us all in 2022 and I once again thank you for your indulgence in this series we call Rate the Game.

Never let it be said that this little endeavor doesn't surprise me from time to time. Last week marked a new hiccup as we closed out 2021, the result of which is forcing me to do Week 91 all over again as you can see. American McGee's Alice, sadly, did not poll as well as the other titles on the list, in that basically no one other than me played it to where they could slap a rating on it. In the interest of fairness, I have decided to discard American McGee's Alice from contention to the list and thus we stand where we stand right now.

In doing the new draw for this week, I added another game to the pile to replace American McGee's Alice, thus this should all still end with 125 titles in total our glorious leaderboard. Speaking of which, now is as good a time as any to show it off here:



Obviously, there was no need to do any editing to it this week but it's your reminder where things stand so far. American McGee's Alice can't join its ranks but maybe I'll add in an Honorable Mention section in the end for it and any other games that end up getting the same result. Maybe this week's game? So, let's start the new year by kicking it in the balls with this sucker. Your NEW 91st game to rate for this series has been declared by the draw! It's another one of Valve's crazy first-person franchises with a hint of disaster. It's the co-operative zombie-killing, survival blood-fest known as Left 4 Dead. Yet another game that would have been suitable back in October but it gets the honor of kicking off 2022 so it's got that going for it. What else has it got going for it? Well that's up to you all. Let's rate this bad boy and discuss its merits, if any, as we look onward into the new year! Have a good one. Until next week!

I'll give it a 3. It had a great premise, and it was fun but rather lackluster IMO.

I'll always remember this game being the showcase when I owned 2 Xbox 360s; one for gaming and one for streaming. My friends and I wanted to experience the full multiplayer experience instead of just the split-screen so I actually went through the bother of buying a second copy of the game just for that purpose.

Like I said before, depending on who you have as your teammates this game can be either extremely exhilarating or exhausting. The teamwork aspect is spot on and working together reaps tremendous success. However, I've got friends who can't seem to grasp simple concepts like don't make noise or what sounds some of the special infected make. One of my friends, while I was down because of a Witch, decided the best and most efficient solution to that problem was tossing a Molotov where I was on the ground. Trying to do any of the campaigns on Expert was out of the question.

Still, though, I can't call a game a failure just because of a few doofuses. The game is appropriately creepy with its design and graphics, the cast is likeable, Zoey and Francis in particular, the presentation is cool, with its grindhouse film-style, and when you've got a good team at your side, it's just good fun. It can get repetitive but it's a game best played in short doses and with everyone on the same page. Not perfection but it accomplishes what it needs to do. The sequel? A discussion for another time, perhaps.
