WWE titles really do mean shit!!!

I know that the state of the titles has been discussed over and over again and this point may have been made a dozen times already! If so can one of the mods just close or delete the topic!

Anyways, if we look at WM21 we have....

A World Heavyweight Title Match-with plenty of build up

A WWE Title Match-with a relatively short build up

A Cruiserweight Title Match-with barely any build up

A Women's Title Match-thrown together based on the fact that WWE barely has anyone to compete for the title and they want to cash in on Christy's current popularity.

and then we have...well no other title matches!

Granted the card is not complete yet but lets look...

the IC champ is in a thrown together at the last minute 6 man ladder match, where (at this time) the title isn't on the line.

the US champ doesn't have a match scheduled (again at this time) but the rumour mill throws up Booker T as contender. But, WHY??? There's little beef between OJ/BT and with only a couple of weeks left it ain't gonna be good build up.

the WWE Tag Team Champs are scheduled to face each other!!! WTF?? granted this match is likely to be awesome but tag team partners who get along fighting each other?? Logic anyone? Mind you better than a throw away 3 or 4 way match.

which brings us nicely on to the World Tag Team Titles. Are Regal/Tajiri still champs?? They have no angle going into WM!!

Now the way WM is shaping up it looks nice but shouldn't this pseudo-sport be based around attaining championships??

Oh man, fuck it!!

I'm in one of those moods where I'm just nit picking at shit!

If it was only based on attaining championship, it'd be fucking boring.

You think the WWE is based on attaining championships? Where have you been the last 15 years?

Even during the boom, most of the titles, except for the Heavyweight title were pretty irrelevant.

The tag titles were just a prop for the Outlaws to use in their pre-match schtick. The IC title was on such greats as Godfather, Chyna and Road Dogg. And the other titles were even worse than that.

The tag titles did become value with the TLC matches, but that only last for like a year or 18 months.

And you could even argue the Heavyweight title wasn't protect because it switched hands a lot.

But at least they only had one world title, I think more than anything they just need ot go back to having the one title that everyone is focused on, instead of having two.

I liked the Brock Lesnar-era of having one Unified Champion that is able to perform on both shows. It was like an extra privelege you won that would allow you to fight double the superstars you normally could.

The titles need more relevance, there's no doubt about it.

When you really think about it, is that really a good thing? To a face, maybe because they always want to challenge all comers and show the fans how great they are. To the heels it is terrible because they always want to sneak out with a win and fight as little as possible. The actual wrestler himself probably wouldn't want to work double the shows as well so I don't really see it as a good thing.

In that case, it would be a good thing to the fans. A face GM such as Long could force the Undisputed Champ to face somebody, putting the champ to the test.

No, I believe that if they want to be considered a World Champion, they should sacrifice something..therefore, they should be on both shows. That's just my opinion.

I don't really think that's very good. If the champ is in a feud with a guy on Smackdown, then what's the point in him being on RAW? Which then leaves RAW without a champ. I think that's kinda the reason why they bought in two champs in the first place.

Its simple really, you just elevate the IC/US titles to main event status.

When the world champ is on the other show, those champions have to step up and carry the show.

That would force them to make those belts strong, and put them on guys who can be counted on to headline. In all likelyhood you would see guys like Eddie, Jericho, Benoit and co with those titles, but at least it would be a prestigious, unlike it is now.

Also, it allows main event programs to drag out longer. Say John Cena is the Undisputed Champ, he's on SD working with JBL, then he goes off to RAW to face Edge or something. While he's away from SD they can be building up JBL more, and then when Cena gets back the fued will seem fresh again, and JBL would look strong.

But the main benefit as I see it is that the World Champ would actually seem above everyone else, and it would seem like a big honour to be champ because you get to be on both shows. Having two world titles doesn't give the same sense of respect to me.
