Hopefully, just a simple problem
My standard HP computer came with two slots... regular CD ROM, and a separate DVD Writer/cd-writer combo.
Anyways, the CD ROM broke so I replaced it with a new CDROM and Burner. When I install games and software it works fine now. But when I try to burn onto a blank CD (which I put in my CDROM and burner slot), the program doesn't recognize a CD and the DVD/cd-writer combo slot opens, wanting me to put the blank disc in there. The problem is, the DVD/cd-writer combo is also broke. So How do I get my computer to burn using the CDROM and burner I just bought? |

Check the manufacturer's website for updated drivers for the device, and reinstalling the device itself might not hurt.

If its Nero you are using, you can just hit,
Recorder > Choose recorder and point it to the new device. |

Did you try setting your PC on fire? That might help?
