WWF King of the Ring 1998, Hell in a Cell.

I just watched it, can anyone tell me what was going on in this match? How much of this was planned, because JR was saying that the match may end after 1 minute because Mankind smashed through the table. Was that planned? They show it on the 'Don't try this at home!' thing? Anyone give me sum good info on that match?
thanks.

More wrestling moves than four happen throughout the whole match...

nevertheless, it was somewhat touch and go. Foley talked to Undertaker about going to the top of the cell and doing stuff, but Undertaker was reluctant, because he didn't want Folely to kill himself.

They had discussed it earlier, but the "toss" ended up being much more dangerously performed than either of them previously planned upon. Foley landed in the best way imaginable and wasn't knocked out.

They then went to the top of the cage to continue the fight, and Foley was chokeslammed on top of the cell. The top panel wasn't tight enough, and in a completely unscripted move, Mick fell 15 feet to the ring and was knocked out cold. Somehow, he got back up and finished one of the most brutal matches in the history of the WWE.

The first throw off the cell was planned, although Undertaker wasn't 100% sure on doing it. The chokeslam through the cell wasn't ment to happen, he was just ment to chokeslam him on the roof, but it gave way.

If i recall correctly it wasn't so much the chokeslam that knocked him out as it was the chair that fell right after him.

His DVD seems to indicate that the second fall wasn't planned but the first one definitly was.

I think they said it was an accident. Undertaker was planning on chokeslamming Foley into the chair on the floor, the back Foley's head hits it. But the cell gave way. In everything I've seen or read, it's always said the second one wasn't meant to happen. But they don't show that one in the 'Don't Try This At Home' they show the first planned one.

As does his book. He says that the chokeslam was both the best and worst he'd ever received. Worst, because he barely got his foot off the ground, and best, because if he'd taken it properly, he would have landed on his head and wouldn't be here.

The other matter that the steel chair was also beneath him, fell with him, and cracked him in the face suggests that maybe it wasn't planned. Foley also admits on 'His Three Faces of Foley' tape that he'd seen Shawn Micheals backdropped, suplexed and battered all over the top of that cage at Badd Blood the year before. He was not aware that at KOR the cage would have less resistance.

So, to be honest, I'm not 100% certain but I'm guessing that it was not planned.

Funk told him that the only way he'd top the HBK Undertaker match would be to start on top of the cage. UT shot the idea down whenever Foley suggested it for weeks. Finally, he give in and a legend was born.
