OFFICIAL New Blood/Hot Prospects Thread

Since there's been a couple of threads and discussions floating around on just who is and isn't a hot prospect, and since Coach and Lawler and even JR are yelling "TREMENDOUS UPPPPPSSSIIIIDDDE" like it was Hubie Brown's wet dream, I thought I'd post a list of the guys you could call 'top prospects' and see who the good people at TPWW actually think are among the cream f the crop.

First off, I'm only listing the performers ages 30 and under as verified at obsessedwithwrestling.com. Thirty is just one of thse magical ages for all professional athletes that separates 'potential' from 'journey man.' Yes, there are exceptions, but not many.

Also, for the purpose of discussion, lets not hear a lot of "Well the WWE will never let them be innovative or give them a good gimmick or they'll just job to Trips or whatever" type comments. In an optimal situation, which one of these guys has the most TUP (Tremendous Upside Potential)?

RAW
Name Year Born
John Cena 1977
Matt Hardy 1974
Shelton Benjamin 1975
'Eugene' Dinsmore 1975
Carlito 1979
Chris Masters 1983
Rene Dupree 1983
The Heartthrobs 1981
Tyson Tomko 1976
Damaja Danny Basham 1979
Jonny Swinger 1975
[NOTE: Maybe theres a good reason for the Diva searches. All the established Raw Divas: Torrie, Lita, Trish, and Vicky are ove rthe age of 30. CVicky is entering MILF territory actually]

SMACKDOWN
Name Year Born
Randy Orton 1980
Orlando Jordan ??? seriously...no joy at gerweck.net or obsessed
Mercury and Nitro 1979
Ken Kennedy 1976
Sylvan Grenier 1979
Doug Basham 1977
CM Punk 1978
Paul London 1980
Brichill 1979
[NOTE: All the SD divas are well under 30]

Under WWE Contract
Name Year Born
Brock Lesnar 1977
Jamie Noble 1976
Spanky 1979
Hassan 1981

There are some guys considered big time prospects at OVW like Bobby Lashley and Tank Toland, but I doubt nmany people have seen them.

JUST FOR SHITS & GIGGLES

AJ Styles 1978
Samoa JOe 1979
Sabin 1982
Rhino 1975

IMO,
RAW
1.)Shelton Benjamin (He is on fire, in terms of wrestling godliness, he is quickly climbing the ladder to Kurt Angle's niche. Once he works out his lack of mic skills over time, he will be unstoppable.
2.)Carlito
3.)Matt Hardy
4.)Chris Masters

Smackdown
1.) RKO (Randy Orton is a natural in my eyes, from the first time I saw him he quickly became one of my favorites, his cockyness is unmatched. Great character.)
2.) Birchill
3.) CM Punk

UC
1.) Brock Lesnar / Hassan Tie. (Hassan had the potential to be one of the greater heel's of this era... fuck UPN.)

This is so hard. Matt Hardy still has a huge chance of making it as a full-time main eventer. Rene Dupree and Chris Masters are so young, yet they still have shown decent skill and Masters is already arguably in the main event. Assuming they give Dupree a chance outside tag team wrestling and the French gimmick, I think he'll go places.

Nick Dinsmore has probably the most wrestling talent out of anyone on the RAW list, and I'm hoping that they have him shed his "Eugene" gimmick on RAW next week. Dinsmore could be the next "Kurt Angle" if he's used to his fullest potential, this being an optimistic thing, I'm going to say he will be the next "Kurt Angle". And please don't go off saying "there will never be the next Kurt Angle, Dinsmore will by the first Dinsmore!", I am simply comparing their skill and the likely common role they would play in the company.

Doug Basham and Damaja are two to watch as well. Particularly Doug from what I hear. Damaja was supposed to be called up earlier, though. I think these two will etch themselves into things.

Muhammad Hassan and Brock Lesnar are definates when they return, as if Randy Orton, unless they release him tomorrow. It won't happen, but I can see them giving up on Randy Orton, making him perhaps the greatest missed opportunity in the history of the business. Orton stays (which is almost definate) he sticks around the top for a long time.

Everyone on that list has potential, and a role to fill in the next generation of wrestling, and I am looking forward to it. Who can not look forward to a generation with Ken Kennedy, Spanky, Jamie Noble, Paul London, Randy Orton, Doug Basham, Joey Mercury, Johnny Nitro and Paul Burchill all on the same brand?

Somebody's Gotta Die does not have that much rep yet (10+)
John Cena 1977

- His time is truly now... He is excelling with his current gimmick and is getting good matches out of guys that can definitely carry him like Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho... A heel turn for him sometime next year should hopefully lead to another direction for him where he can explore new feuds...

Matt Hardy 1974

- Meh... I enjoyed the match on RAW, but he's been buried to the extent that he can probably never get over it... I don't mind him around, but I don't see any hopeful title runs from him anytime in the near future...

Shelton Benjamin 1975

- This guy is money in the bank and he needs to be used to his full potential... I am hoping he wins the Royal Rumble and goes on to beat Angle at WrestleMania, however I will probably dream on... He is certainly the most talented up-and-comer out of the ones listed...

'Eugene' Dinsmore 1975

- He'll need a gimmick adjustment, but I think he can still be used... I don't see him winning any championships anytime soon, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him form a team and hopefully wrestle as a tag wrestler... Conway/Dinsmore was apparently the shit in OVW...

Carlito 1979

- He's really young and he can still develop... I have yet to see any brilliant performances from him, but he's gold on the mic and he can develop in the ring... I like what he's doing right now, however I'd like to see more challenges and more from him in the ring... He's a small guy, so I don't see him ever amounting to World/WWE title status...

Chris Masters 1983

- He's really young and he's not that bad... He can use some development on the mic, as well as in the ring but he has the look and seems to be getting over lately... I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes another Batista-like figure if he develops... Unlike most posters here, I don't mind him, however I think his push is coming way too early...

Rene Dupree 1983

- I like this guy... He's actually pretty good in the ring and I want to see this team with Tomko develop... Hopefully there will be some sort of rejuvination in the tag-team divisions on both RAW and SD! by next year... Keep this youngster around and let him develop... He's not bad on the stick either...

The Heartthrobs 1981

- Decent tag-team to have around as long as they're not constantly being buried in handicap matches, etc. These guys are simply just another team and I don't mind seeing more of them on RAW as the tag-team division develops...

Tyson Tomko 1976

- He's not bad, but he's not great either... I think a tag-team role would suit him perfectly... A team with Dupree could provide for some interesting segments and a decent contender for the gold... No main event star, but not a bad guy to have on the roster...

Damaja Danny Basham 1979

- He's pretty good and I want to see this Damaja thing on RAW... Maybe he can develop into a legitimate star or something... He's been pretty good and consistent in the ring from what I've seen and heard...

Jonny Swinger 1975

- Not a bad guy to push in the midcard ranks or perhaps in a tag-team with somebody... I don't see him becoming a credible top of the carder...

Randy Orton 1980

- I think we have a main event champion by next year... His work against Taker at SS was solid and he's always been good on the mic... Hopefully we see some more consistency from him in the ring... He can be around for a long time if he can avoid being injury-prone...

Orlando Jordan ???

- Meh... If he got released, I really wouldn't mind... He bothers me because he never puts on any exciting matches and pretty much bores up the audience... He's all right to keep around as an annoying heel figure, but I don't want to see any more championships being undeservedly put on him again...

Mercury and Nitro 1979

- Good up-and-coming team... Joey Matthews is really good in the ring and Johnny Nitro continues to develop... I think WWE will eventually break up the team and both guys will become completely useless, however they can be effective as long as they are kept together...

Ken Kennedy 1976

- I've heard great things and I think we have a credible mid-card/upper-card contender if fans catch on to what he's doing... I need to see more of him myself to be able to judge...

Sylvan Grenier 1979

- He's decent in the ring, pretty good on the mic... Personally, I'm surprised he's still being kept around because he's pretty useless now on his own... I wouldn't mind seeing him get released in the near future...

Doug Basham 1977

- He's pretty good actually... Give him a solid midcard push... Basham-Benoit for the title on PPV could actually be a great match if both guys are allowed to work...

CM Punk 1978

- He's awesome, but I'm not predicting a future for him until I see his toned-down lacking version in WWE as some deaf moron... CM Punk is gold, however he will probably be misused and pissed on...

Paul London 1980

- Good cruiserweight... Exciting style... Deserves to stay around for a while... He adds a good high-flying element to a really toned-down cruiserweight division in WWE where most of the action is mat-based...

Brichill 1979

- I'm loving the team with Regal and if he continues to develop, we may have a star on our hands... I really like this guy actually...

Brock Lesnar 1977

- I'd love to see him come back and take the title from Batista at WM... He's always been good in the ring and he's a key factor missing on SD!... I hope he is indeed re-signed...

Jamie Noble 1976

- Good cruiserweight... I always liked his gimmick and his style... I was sad to see him released and I am exciting to his return... Hopefully he wins the CW title and comes out with both the ROH and the CW title at the same time...

Spanky 1979

- Another quality young cruiserweight... I didn't want to see him go, but I am excited for his return... He is supposed to be on Velocity or something... I wouldn't mind a CW title run from him anytime in the future...

Hassan 1981

- I hope he returns with the gimmick on RAW... He's money and the quality action he can bring to the table is crucial... He's extremely young and we may definitely have a future heavyweright champion on our hands unless he is buried and released due to this over-hyped media crap...

AJ Styles 1978
Samoa JOe 1979
Sabin 1982
Rhino 1975
Amazing Red 1982

- All these guys are key stars for TNA once it comes to Spike... If a few more guys can be hired such as Ultimo Dragon and a few big names, the promotion can build... Samoe Joe is my favorite out of the 5 and I wouldn't be surprised to see him as NWA Heavyweight Champion by the end of next year... His style is so exciting to watch...
