The Jacket

I searched, of course, and didn't find another thread.
Just watch this tonight. It's the best film I have seen this year (by that I mean from 2005).

It's about a man who is shot in the head in Iraq and left with brain damage. When he comes home, he is framed for the murder of a police officer, found criminally insane and sentenced to detention in an asylum.

There, as part of his treatment, he is injected with psychotropic drugs, bound in the titular straitjacket and locked in a morgue cabinet. Seemingly, this terrifying ordeal gives him the ability to travel through time while he is locked in.

Not giving very much away there, of course. If you loved 12 Monkeys and Jacob's Ladder, like I did, then this film is for you.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was my favourite film from 2004, and similarly this movie tells a story of the mind and of love, in a different way, but equally poignant in my opinion.

Great movie. I don't remember it getting great reviews, but I knew it would be my kind of film.

From Paul Berne's autobiography:

Damien Gates tried to use me as a way back into football. That dirty English cunt knew his career was finished and he tried to drag me down with him, attempting to keep me up by reminising about the old times. I could see beneath his lies however, right to the point where I just wanted to smack that bastard.

'I knew I hadn't played well that day, I knew the team hadn't performed to his capabilities but by golly, his head shake made me want to destroy his face'
