Since Austin won't be competing at Mania, it leaves Punk as the "odd man out" so to speak. After RAW though, I realized that if they're careful with how they book him, Ryback should win the Rumble and take the belt off of Punk at Mania. For an established guy like Cena or Rock to end this reign would be a missed opportunity to put over a new star. The slow build would be tremendous. I mean, it's only October, and those people were going nuts. I say you stretch this out until April and make it mean something. With that, I think Mania's top matches can look something like this:
WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Ryback -Ryback wins Rumble, text book story, make a new star. Streak: The Undertaker vs. John Cena -It wouldn't be rocket science to set this match up, and it would deliver on every level. The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman -Lesnar/Punk have a loose alliance on the RTWM due to their business relationship with Paul Heyman. Lesnar costs Rock the Championship at the Rumble against Punk, and you have yourself a huge grudge match between two huge stars. Would be a great staple to the show. Also: Rey vs. Sin Cara |
