So looking back at the HBK/Hogan feud leading up to Summerslam last year, HBK was doing the heel role bashing Hogan. However, he was saying truthful facts about Hogan (ie: only showing up when he needs the money, only working the bigger shows while HBK was busting his ass for fans at National Guard Armory's, etc) which should have made Hogan the heel during this. HBK was using Hogan's backstage personality and using it as fuel for the feud. HBK totally dominated the feud verbally, totally owning Hogan.

Now this year we've got Foley/Flair at Summerslam, which really has been brewing for over a decade now. And despite what really should be happening, Foley is the heel in this one, even though he beef over Flair should really make him babyface. Afterall, Flair basically robbed Foley of his career WCW with his backstage politics and this should have made Flair look like a total asshole. Instead they make Foley as bitter, ala HBK last year. Foley is taking his real life dislike of Flair and using it towards the feud. Which was what HBK was doing last year. Likewise with HBK, Foley is owning Flair on the mic in this feud.

It seems like this is starting to be a tradition at Summerslam (One Main Eventer is upset at a Legend for being an asshole in the past). What's for next year?

Edge vs. The Rock where Edge is upset that Rock never bothers to stay for more than a month so he can shoot movies instead of giving other people a rub?

Hey it could work and I'm sure Rock can bring the best out of Edge. I know a lot of people don't like Edge, but he is going to be a ME player for at least the next few years. Might as well get as much use out of him as they can.
