I know I'm a Val Venis/Nick Dinsmore mark...
...but watch their match on Heat. Fuck, that these two may never get an opportunity in the mid-card pisses me off to no end. Val Venis has gotten shit loads of money from the WWE, I bet, but come on, he deserves a little better than being one of the most misused Superstars in modern WWE history.
For anyone who doubts the greatness of Nick Dinsmore (I could make links to Rob Conway and Doug Basham right now, but I won't), watch this match. Even whilst playing a retard, and forced into the WWE style, the guy can work a fucking match. If the WWE has a few surprise matches in store for New Year's Revolution, I hope Eugene vs. Val Venis is one of them. It could be sleeper match of the night (the only thing that would hold it back is the perceived status of its performers). Also worth noting, Steve Madison is looking fucking awesome. One of the more impressive jobbers I've seen on WWE programming. I can remember his name, so that's something. Russell Simpson, Fred Sampson, Colt Cabana, Ace Steel and Steve Madison have been entertaining in their Heat/Velocity enhancement matches. There may be others, but these guys are the stand-out ones, in my mind. Madison hit this sweet piledriver on the knee move to Super Crazy, that actually made me mark out. I may be a dirty slut, but a jobber making me mark out isn't that easy. No, I'm not professing this guy as the future of wrestling, but he could be a solid addition to a tag team or the mid-card. Damn impressive showing. The main event was kind of icky, but Hacksaw Jim Duggan shows quite a bit of expression in the ring. It is corny, overracted expression, but it made me respect the guy a bit more than I would if he went in there and just flagged it in for a paycheck. He's geniunely trying his best to entertain me, I can tell. Good for him. |
