Issues with the Wii VC

So i downloaded Mario World off the VC.

Anyone else found that when they go back to the game via the save file, you lose all of your lives?

Also the gamecube controller is all fucked up for it, I went out to get a classic controller in the end, so it's not the end of the world, as it was a good excuse to get it, but still it's a unplanned expense.

Anyone else found any glitches with any VC games?
