I kinda love that they did end it like that the more I think about it.

Because the whole series is like that. Like I feel like a pretentious dickhead or whatever but the whole series is just so subtle that it is great that it leaves you with questions as to what happened. It didn't just go with the obvious route of Tony getting killed or going to jail or whatever else everyone was expecting. Just kinda fucked with you, or just gave little hints here and there as to what may have happened. It always has been a ridiculously psychological show disguised as a mafia drama. And a weird, ambiguous ending fits kinda perfect with the show.
