Also, I agree with you sort of but at the same time I can see why the 'Hawks went for it. You need two scores either way, and yeah you could get an easy FG but you'd still need to get the ball back and drive down the field for a TD anyway, which is pretty unlikely anyway. One of those "rock and a hard place" situations.
Yeah but by kicking the FG, you are at least giving yourself the chance to get the ball back.. By going for it on forth, in FG range, you pretty much eliminate all chances of getting the ball back, if you don't get the TD/1st down..
