Computer shutting down problem

Yeah, I'm sure people who talk to me have noticed that sometimes I just randomly log off of MSN, Soulseek, AIM, or whatever. Well this is either because A: the program simply bodges up, or B: My computer shuts down

Well, 90% of the time it's because of choice B. I could just be on the computer, listening to music, posting on the boards, playing a game, or whatever, and then suddenly the screen goes black and my whole PC shuts off, only for it to turn back on.

The only problems are:

A) I get shitloads of annoying pop-ups when my computer is first turned on
B) My computer is slow when it is first turned on
C) I have to get back into whatever it was I was doing before.

So what I'm asking is, what the fuck is causing my PC to shut down like this, and what can I do to keep it from happening? I've put up with this problem for about a month, maybe month and a half, and frankly now I'm sick of it.
