Post some excellent live performances by bands or artists that you enjoy

Music videos are all well and good, but I've long been a proponent of the theory that an artist is really as good as the performance they put on in a live setting. The ability to capture the atmosphere, energy, or feeling of your recorded songs is pretty crucial to being a good musician or ensemble. Case in point: When I saw Blink-182 play in 2003, Brand New opened for them. Brand New were amazing. They had energy, finesse, and style in near every aspect of the performance they put on - so much so that I went and saw them again at a show they played the following night, without their almighty headliners. Blink, on the other hand, were sloppy as hell, missing notes and harmonies with far greater frequency than I care to remember, and it really impacted on my opinion of them as a band.

Anyway. Enough preachy bullshit and onto the excellence.

Gogol Bordello - Wanderlust King

and finally, the amazing Minus the Bear - Ice Monster/The Fix
