Personal preference: I prefer playing with Ken rather than Ryu...and yes...I realize that sounded fucking gay. Keep in mind, I am only basing this opinion on Super Street Fighter II and Super Street Fighter II Turbo. I have not played the other Street Fighter Games enough times to have an opinion.

HOWEVER - Storyline wise, Ryu is the superior fighter. Ryu is the 'hero' of Street Fighter and so from a storyline perspective...I go with Ryu. Ken has motivation issues.

p.s. Based purely on SSF2 and SSF2T, I also think that Ryu has better music. Zangief's music is the most badass however.
