I disagree with the rest though.
When someone says "Transformers is entertaining", it doesn't neccesarilly mean that greater films aren't entertaining too. They are. Perhaps moreso.
It's not so black and white though. It's not like only great or well above average movies can be entertaining. Their level of brilliance is what distinguishes them as great. But there is also such a thing as "good" and "pretty good", or "above average".
It's not as if there's only high art, and then everything else is garbage.
Just because a film isn't high art, doesn't mean it's garbage. Not every movie sets out to explore the human condition or move the art forward. Some just set out to thrill, or entertain.
There is such a thing as good movies that don't hold a candle to great ones. Subtle levels my friend. It's the essence of criticism and your own enjoyment. The sooner you realize this about the movie industry, the better it will be for you.

I'm a fan of Mystery Science Theater, RiffTrax and Cinematic Titanic. In that aspect, yeah, movies like TransFormers and Batman & Robin are phenominal. Otherwise, bad movies are just bad movies. And, I hate to crack the glass, but TF was just really bad.
