In Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan some of the younger wrestlers face off the established stars in a "trial series". They don't necessarily win all of their matches but they are supposed to grow as a wrestler and get over with the crowd for their "fighting spirit" and whatnot.
So, would this type of thing work in getting over younger talent in WWE? Say for example, Evan Bourne goes through a 5 match Trial Series spaced out over the course of 6-8 weeks of Raw. His opponents would be: Randy Orton, The Miz, MVP, Chris Jericho, HHH. Again, the goal in this would be to get Bourne over regardless of how many matches in the series he won, without him being squashed in any of his matches, or without the highest tier guys he wrestles looking too weak. So, Bourne could definitely get in alot of offense against his opponents, but he CAN be beaten cleanly and decisively (which does not equal a squash at all) |
