Would Kane have made it to the level he did without the Kane character?

Was thinking that Kane had been in the WWF for a few years before the Kane gimmick started. He was always a solid worker, but do you think that, without the rub he got from working with Taker and being a huge part of Taker's mythos he would have gotten to the point he did?

I'm thinking he would have had more "big man" gimmicks, maybe a body guard gimmick at some point, then retired to be a trainer or road agent or retire from the business as a whole.

Do you think he would have gotten as over as he did? And how would you have seen Glenn Jacob's career going without the Kane character?
