Rank a Trio: Tokon Sanjushi

Formed in July 1988 during an excursion in Puerto Rico, Tokon Sanjushi comprised of Shinya Hashimoto, Masahiro Chono, and Keiji Mutoh.

"Tokon Sanjushi" is Japanese for "Fighting Spirit Three Musketeers."

All three members were part of New Japan Pro Wrestling Dojo's Class of 1984, which also included Jushin Thunder Liger and AKIRA.

In August 1991, Tokon Sanjushi solidified their status as the next generation of New Japan Pro Wrestling during the first-ever G1 Climax tournament.

The trio disbanded in 1994, after Chono turned heel.

Between 2001 and 2005, Tokon Sanjushi reunited in several non-wrestling appearances, occasionally alongside Mitsuharu Misawa.

Shinya Hashimoto died in July 2005, which dashed any chance of a Tokon Sanjushi reunion in the ring. Only Chono and Mutoh remain.

Tokon Sanjushi succeeded the likes of Antonio Inoki, Tatsumi Fujinami, Kengo Kimura, and Riki Choshu to passing the torch to guys like Yuji Nagata, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima, and Manabu Nakanishi.
