I remember reading somewhere that Joe didn't want to go to WWE. He'd rather be a big fish in a small pond kinda thing. He knew that he'd be held down in WWE and wouldn't go far, so he thought staying in TNA and doing his indy shit was best for his career. I recall him even mentioning Triple H someway.
