Highlander to get a reboot?

On March 2008, Summit Entertainment announced that it had bought the film rights to the Highlander franchise and is remaking the 1986 original movie. Originally Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway were writing the script, but Summit Entertainment turned to Melissa Rosenberg to write it instead, with release scheduled for 2011.[29][30][31] In September 2009, Fast & Furious director Justin Lin was announced as director of the film[32] while Neal H. Moritz will co-produce.

IMDB lists the release as 2014, so this may drop off the face of the planet.

People are bitching about Rosenberg because she's behind the Twilight screenplays. Apparently, Highlander fans have decided The Source doesn't exist, because after that shit, Stephanie Meyers could rewrite the source material and not make it worse.

Torn on this, myself. I'd hate to think of the last film being the Source, which left a bad taste in my mouth. I know Highlander's sequels have never really been A-movie qualities, but that shit was...Awful. A reboot may not be any better, but still, I don't want to see highlander go out on that note.
