The 'New Caprica' episodes of Battlestar Galactica. They were always pretty decent about alluding to modern post-9/11 mentality and politics without just getting on a soapbox for most of the show, but then they just apparently went "fuck it, let's do Iraq in space" for the third season.
(although I will say the actual rescue mission/battle at the end of it was fucking amazing) |
