We are coming to the end of the year and it is doubtful that any album of substance is going to be released until after the New Year, unless you think the new Chevelle record coming out in a couple of weeks is going to be a classic.
So it is now time to choose your album of the year. You may want to elaborate on why it is your album of the year if you wish and maybe bestow upon us an example of why it has kicked your arse. Out of the 80+ albums that I have bought this year, only 9 were actually released this year, and then only 2 really stood out to me. They were: Kuniko Kato's Plays Reich and the Yo-Yo Ma/Stuart Duncan/Edgar Meyer/Chris Thile collaborative album, The Goat Rodeo Sessions. For me the latter won out; it grabbed me from the opening refrain and didn't let go until the end. Top notch musicians at their best. Try and keep the "honourable mentions" to a minimum; I know that some of you are incapable of making a decision. Shoot! ![]() ![]() |
