Computer Failure Problem...

So last night I smelled a slightly musty, smoky smell. Figured it was a neighbor burning wood so ignored it. This morning, as I was on my PC, it suddenly turned off and found the smell was indeed coming from the PC. I've had problems like this before with overheating without the smell (I had to reset the heatsink with new thermal paste) but before it always turned back on after letting it sit for a bit. Not so this time. When I got home tonight and tried it, I got a split second of it coming on (fans and lights) then went right off.

I haven't actually taken it apart yet (going to tomorrow) but I'm wondering what I should look out for. I'm afraid the motherboard and/or CPU are fried, but I'm hoping it's just the power supply.
