See, I don't remember this being due to a bad ending so much as allowing DLC to be released. I don't remember, nor can I find much negative reaction to the end.

I see people throwing F3 out as an example a lot. It doesn't seem much like Mass Erect.

Besides, they don't need to retcon much to sell you DLC.
