I always thought 8 got unfairly compared to 7, it was like people wanted to take Square to task for not making a direct sequel or something. I never got terribly into FF7 anyway, something about the overly pretty main villain, Cloud's emo-ness and the battle system of putting little marbles into slots never clicked with me. I can understand the games following tho.
