As soon as he turned heel they made him like every other generic heel on the roster. Same actions when faced with the same situations. As a face he had that charm where every obnoxious heel you just though "Fuck, I hope Ryback destroys him". It's a big reason why the crowd fucking went nuts when he was chasing, and finally got his hands on, CM Punk. There wasn't another face on the roster who would have worked in that role. Cena goes for the "overcoming adversity" charm. Ryback had the "I will rip off a heel's face" charm.

Now he's being booked as just the latest generic heel.
