Could my motherboard be the problem??

So I am built my own computer, which was stupid, and now it isn't working right. I have a AMD 2800xp, 512mb of ram, and a ATI Radeon 9600xt graphics card all on a Soyo motherboard. When I go to play games the screen wacks out and I get all these crazy colors and shapes.

In Farcry the game acts normal untill in gets to a cut scene, then it messes up. Sometimes some textures just look like blobs of random colors.

In Battlefield Vietnam the game gets all sorts of strange lines on the screen and then crashes.

I have replaced the graphics card but the problem is still evident. Could the motherboard be faulty or do you think it is something else?
