Microphone problems

Can someone help me with this....

I use a headset sometimes when I play multiplayer games, for teamspeak and all. There is a microphone. When I speak into the microphone yeah you can hear the voice and all that good stuff.

Couple days ago I got up to get some ice tea and I tripped over the wire that the headset plugs into the USB audio device or whatever it is, and it totally became unplugged, so I plugged it back in and ever since then the microphone does not work. I tried unplugging it back in and all, and when I go to sound recorder to record my voice it doesnt work. The lines dont move or nothing, its like its on mute, but when I go to sound control and all that it does not say mute or anything, the volume is turned up as well.

Anyone know what the problem is? Should I buy a new mic or something? Thanks to who can help.
