DISCUSSION - Would it be wise to add "more" to Batista's character if he turned FACE?
I probably shouldn't have said, "if" Batista turns face......I probably should've said when....but nonetheless... Would it be wise to add "more" to Batista's character if he turned face? Here's an idea that was kind of brewing in my mind: -Eventually (later this month), Batista fully turns face and breaks away from Evolution. Batista wins the rumble as well. -After the rumble, Triple H and Flair decide to bring up Batista's past. Remember when Batista initially joined Evolution, Flair mentioned how he came from a "broken home"? Perhaps Flair and Triple H could play up on that? -Regardless of what the story turns out to be, it could potentially have the following advantages: A) A new dimension is added to Batista's character. More depth is added to Batista's character. B) It would get the fans to sympathize with Batista a bit more. C) The poignant subject of bringing up Batista's past (by Flair and Triple H), could serve as a pretext for Batista acting even more intense in the ring (same intensity that guys like Goldberg and Ken Shamrock displayed?). A 'more intense' Batista would further help his character. D) More depth and intensity is added to the Triple H/Batista feud. Of course - the drawback of such an idea, is that it would come across as cheesy. We saw what happened with the "Katie Vick" storyline from a few years ago. At the same time, does anyone recall the time when Paul Bearer introduced Kane? Before this time, Paul Bearer kept talking about how Taker had something "to hide" (which intrigued the fans immensely). That particular angle was played off extremely well. Basically - would attempting to add to Batista's character (i.e. showing a more emotional side of Batista) be a good thing for him (like Taker?)........or a disasterous thing (like with Kane). Would bringing up something in Batista's family be good for storylines? Would it ADD to the Triple H/Batista feud, or would it make it more corny? |
