Is reviving the Four Horsemen really such a bad idea?
I admit, I never saw the Four Horsemen stable. Not one incarnation. When I heard the rumours that Chris Benoit, Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Dean Malenko may be returning under that name I was thinking what a horrible idea it was.
If Malenko returned full-time you might have Benoit as a credible World Heavyweight Champion and Malenko as a credible IC Champion, but you're really gripping straws with it, and have a lot of wasted space with Flair and Anderson in the stable. But this morning I was thinking. Could a new Horsemen stable actually work? With Evolution being shattered recently with the face turn of Dave Batista, after WrestleMania you have Triple H not doing anything. That's Triple H & Flair as two members of the stable. Who could fill the other roles? I'm far too lazy to look up the stats, but Frankie Kazarian is a fairly big guy to be in the cruiserweight division. I'm not saying he shouldn't be in there, or that he wouldn't be an asset in it, but Frankie has a credible build, and he could be used in a Horsemen-like stable. At WrestleMania we have Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels, which is rumoured to be Angle's last match. Assuming it is, and that Luther Reigns & Mark Jindrak break-up, Reigns is going to need direction. Him teaming with Kazarian on RAW would be an interesting idea. Another idea is to keep the Evolution name, and have Triple H, Ric Flair, Frankie Kazarian and Luther Reigns as its members. Then you have the Four Horsemen with Chris Benoit, Arn Anderson, Randy Orton & Shelton Benjamin to counter-act it. If you're not too keen on Kazarian and Reigns in the role, you could have Christian & Tyson Tomko join. Or have Tomko go over to SmackDown! or something, and have Muhammad Hassan, Gene Snitsky, Randy Orton or a heel Shelton Benjamin join. I'm not trying to say I'm absolutely for reviving a dead stable name, but I think the Horsemen may have a spot in wrestling if they use NEW members. A lot of guys like Charlie Haas have nothing to do, and having two new rookies join Triple H and Ric Flair at the moment might be a huge boost for them. Charlie Haas & Billy Kidman are two guys tha could really benefit from something like this. |
