I read last night that the Yankees plan to have a new stadium, about 4,000 less seats but 60 or so more luxury suites, open by 2009. It said that the Mets also plan to have one open by then and that both stadiums will be located right next to the old ones.
Personally, both of these are retarded. The Mets: I love the Mets, I think they are the shit, but Shea frankly sucks. I'm not just talking about the stadium, but the location of it is the worst. It's like a big stupid looking stadium in the middle of nowhere, with nothing surrounding it but parking lots. The Mets play in a big market and have a lot of money, obviously they can afford to make a pretty kick ass stadium somewhere, why put it in flushing so it can stand out like a sore toe? The Yankees: Money money money. That is all that this is about. I guess I don't know how New York fans feel, but from my gut opinion I wouldn't think anybody be in favor of this besides the ones that are going to profit from it. Why would you put away a perfectly good ballpark that has more history then any other ballpark to build another one right next to it? Who gives a shit if they have wider foul zones and more suites, they are making enough money to put out a 200 million dollar payroll right now, how much more do they need? I don't think the Yankees would be the same without Yankee Stadium. Dont Mess With Kids |
