I'm reading an old Apter magazine and there is an article talking about the feud between Col. DeBeers and Scott "Last Call" Hall in the AWA. And I forgot just how controversial DeBeers gimmick was.

DeBeers was a South African militant and a very racist one at that. His main goal was to rid the world of minorities. And here are some "quotes" from the magazine I'm reading.

If violence is what it takes to rid my city of these horrible creatures, then violence is the answer. Because, as you can see, if these blacks are given free reign to do as they please, society will absolutely disintegrate.

Philosophically, I believe the black man is better off serving the white man. His problems are taken care of. He lives in peace and is fed at regular intervals. But if they want their independence, then who am I to stand in the way?

But there's something else that's been in the news a lot lately, and that's the violence that's bred at rap music concerts featuring black stars with black audiences. It happened in New York, where black youths went on a crime rampage after a Run-D.M.C. concert in Madison Square Garden. It happened in Los Angeles, again at a Run-D.M.C. concert, where blacks were syabbing each other - not a bad way for them to go, by the way, let 'em kill each other off, that way we don't have to dirty our hands with the job.

That's some heavy shit right there. And yet people were complaining about Muhammad Hassan...imagine the outcry if this gimmick were to be shown on WWE TV now.
