It depends on what was said.

And how it was said.

Since I didn't see/hear/read the comments, I can't say one way or another whether or not a lawsuit has grounds, is merited, or could be won, or on which grounds it would occur. Though slander/libel and defamation are more or less the same thing.

it is but i think libel is when you write something about someone thats not true so i guess that eliminates libel. Slander is saying something thats totally untrue about someone(but not totally ruining them), while defamation of charcter is saying something thats a total untrue and destroys that persons image completley, the next level up from slander.

No. Libel and Slander are the same things in different forms.

Libel: Printed lies or defamation.
Slander: Oral lies or defamation.

And if you look up defamation, they will direct you to the aforementioned words. funny that.

LEgally, they are also very similar.

Umm i said that libel was writing something false about someone and then i stated that slander was saying something about some one thats false. Defemation is indeed a similar word but i wasnt talking about words, i was talking about the type of law suits, all 3 of which are totally seprate law suits you could claim.
