I think that is more to do with how much of a chance he's had to show it rather than hs ability to.

Even on his first night back the crowd weren't that much into his waffle. Usually when a wrestler returns their first night back the crowd are going nuts for them, wasn't the case with jericho if i remember right.

How much can you really do when you're booked as a guest ref? Also, his JBL feud forced him to play a much more serious role, which I thought he did a good job of, but it wasn't "classic" Jericho.
