was just complete "garbage" in a lot of people's views, but others did enjoy it. That was what made E.C.W. a good company -- there really was something for just about everyone who went. There was some of the 'garbage' stuff, some 'lucha' style,cruiserweights,'old-school' style, comedy, tits and ass,and even the big 'hoss' matches. I remember a bunch of quality ECW matches coming to town (except I had been going to ECW shows since 1995)...Shane Douglas (before he got lazy) taking on Tully Blanchard for nearly an hour. Others with Mikey Whipwreck, Dean Malenko, Stevie Richards, Chris Benoit, Public Enemy, Kendall Windham, Marty Jannetty, and plenty of others.Actual wrestling bouts. Later seeing ECW with Christian York & Joey Matthews, Little Guido & Tony Mamaluke, Nova & Chris Chetti, Jerry Lynn, EZ Money, Hamrick, Julio Dinero, Bam Bam Bigelow and lots of the others. Sure,ECW did a lot of crap matches and angles, and had a lot of crap performers (New Jack,Danny Doring,etc..); but every single company that has ever existed has had their shares of that stuff. Overall,on a ratings scale of 1-10,I give ECW a 9 1/2..... |
