Also, I am severly lacking in terms of the DC universe.

Recommend me some titles to follow. Like obviously I know Flash, GL, Batman and all the really well known JLA names and ish but what about other stuff?

Also, I'd really like to get into Batman, but I'd rather skip past the really campy shit that resembled the 1960s tv show. Help me out here.

Batman shit really only got campy in the 50s and mid 60s, and then got right back into the dark stuff. But I'm gonna try to only recommend you some decently recent stuff, with a few 80s things thrown in there.

Batman I'd recommend (graphic novels):

Batman: Year One
Justice League: Tower of Babel (the story revolves around Batman)
The Killing Joke
The Man Who Laughs
Trinity (A graphic novel about Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman's first meeting)
The Long Halloween
Dark Victory (sequel to Long Halloween, introduction of Robin)
The Dark Knight Returns
Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth

That's what I can name that I've got off the top of my head from Batman.

Some other awesome DC stuff:

Kingdom Come (one of the best graphic novels I've ever read, period)
Red Son (Elseworlds tale where Superman landed in Russia instead of the United States during the Cold War)
Identity Crisis (the only graphic novel that has brought me on the verge of tears)
Justice

If you want me to elaborate on what any of them are about, let me know.

I mostly only stick with DC stuff, because it's what I grew up on. With the exception being that I own Iron Man: Demon in a Bottle so I have some classic street cred.

I am currently reading Batman & Son and keeping up on Batman R.I.P.

Grant Morrison's run on Batman has been nothing short of awesome.
