Not if you are getting a huge bonus up front because what if he doesn't pan out? Another Boras guy Craig Hansen got 1 million a year deal right off the bat and I don't think he'll be a very big player once he can hit free agency. I bet his initial deal will total more than he will ever for the rest of his career.

Mets activate Billy Wagner from the 60-day disabled list and release Livan Hernandez. Livan's overall numbers are misleading.

Hernandez was 7-8 with a 5.47 ERA for the Mets in 2009, but posted a 7.33 ERA in July and an 11.30 ERA in August.

He had a really good first half, but as I expected, he trailed off...didn't think he'd trail off THAT much though, damn. But it was time for him to go. They need to start auditioning guys who could potentially be on the 2010 staff, which they've already done with Bobby Parnell.

Mets will probably deal him, which I agree with.

I even read that if the Mets agree to pay the majority of the $3.5 million left on his deal, they might be able to net a decent prospect from Boston. Not a huge prospect or anything obviously...but someone who at least projects into a Major Leaguer.

How is it in panicking? If the season ended right now the Red Sox are in the playoffs, well unless the Rangers come back to win cuz Red Sox aren't coming back tonight.
