AMD or Intel?

Being someone who demands the best from their PC and components, I've used both when they've been at the top of the game.
Right now, AMD doesn't really have much that can match the I7 and high end Intels for performance, but their pricing structure allows for you to build a bang for buck higher performance mid-high spec PC with an AMD processor than Intel.
To be honest, I don't feel AMD has been competitive since the Athlon 64 on Socket 939. Which was the last AMD processor I owned. AMD really lagged behind Intel in multi core technology, and despite the lack of real world performance, people were drawn to purchasing 4 cores over 3. Also in that was the overclocking performance of Intels Socket 775 Chips.

I've now got an I7 System. Which to me states that Intel has this, and probably the next generation covered. Will I go back to AMD in future systems? Probably, but they are going to need to cover a bit of ground before then, and for them to return to their glory days, they'll need to be as revolutionary as they were when the Athlon was the first to crack 1ghz.
