Totally agree. Someone like Joe Carter (World Series here for the Blue Jays in 92 or 93) would have been a good choice. I guess they don't want to do a baseball guy 6 weeks removed from Pete Rose.
It seems like most of the guest hosts have no logic based on location, anyway. Pete Rose wasn't in Cinci, Roethlisberger wasn't in Pittsburgh, Shaq wasn't anywhere where he played. A lot of it is based on promoting stupid movies or cd's or whatever. I'm unimpressed 90% of the time with the guest hosts anyway. I understand the whole deal is to make money, work with other people in cross promotion, but really- most of the time the gimmick isn't at all entertaining, and I think if the masses are entertained, the product will sell. Keep booking former WWE stars to host the show. Keep it wrestling related. Or sports entertainment related, whatever. Gangrel can host. Screw over or help Edge. They don't all have to have been huge stars, but they'd get pops from the attitude crowd and at least fit in. I'd much rather see a Steve Blackman or the Headbangers as hosts of Raw instead of Buzz Aldrin, Pete Rose, or ZZ Top. |
