I don't think he was referring to the main event, or uppermidcard, which includes most of his work. He has said overwhelmingly positive things in the past about Austin vs McMahon, The Rock, DX, Foley, etc.
Yeah. I think he's critising the "shock for shock's sake" mentality that they seemed to have during that time. A lot of it wasn't great wrestling (see: hardcore matches) or great storytelling (see: Mae Young's pregnancy, HHH fucking a "corpse". etc) if we're honest with ourselves.
