Gearbox's publisher 2k Games fires its PR firm involved with the Duke Nukem Forever game after making it appear in a tweet that 2K Games was blacklisting companies and reviewers from early copies of their games and news as punishment for harsh DNF reviews.

2K Games clarified the statement came from the external PR firm without 2K Games knowledge and the PR firm has since apologized for the comment and its mistake.

Quote:
Publisher 2K Games has severed links with its external US public relations and marketing agency after the outfit Tweeted that it was considering blacklisting sites that gave Duke Nukem Forever a particularly rough ride.

A post on The Redner Group's Twitter feed earlier today read: "Too many went too far with their reviews...we are reviewing who gets games next time and who doesn't based on today's venom," followed by another stating "Bad scores are fine. Venom filled reviews...that's completely different."

Much internet ire duly followed, and 2K has just chimed in, announcing that it's given Redner its marching orders.

"2K Games does not endorse or condone the comments made by @TheRednerGroup and confirm they no longer represent our products," read a post on its own Twitter feed.

"We maintain a mutually respectful relationship with the press and will continue to do so. We don't condone @The RednerGroup's actions at all," a further post added.

Multiplayer has its hits and misses for me...more misses than hits..and the only reason I continue to play it is because of some friends who are playing it.

Story Mode I love...I pretty much laugh at everything and havnt really had any major problems with how it plays other than its a clunky but it plays just like Duke Nukem should. Only problem I have is the one driving level I have reached so far plays like shit.

Yeah, multiplayer is ok but not great for me.

Maybe it's because I'm not an online FPS kinda guy but it's pretty hard to hit people online for me.
They get a bullseye pretty much everytime when they shoot me, though.

I don't like how fast your health goes down when someone has a good aim on you, especially when they don't come at you head on because then you don't know they're there and you can't turn around in time to shoot back.

Unless health increases as you level up.

Your health bar is actually measured in "Ego" in-game, and you increase it by interacting with certain things in the environment (admiring yourself in the mirror for example), and there are certain things you can interact with that you may from time to time see hints as to what to do/how to interact with that item.

I just remembered that I was playing last night and, half way through the intro (I was showing my brother it), the game autoskipped it and a message came up saying I had downloaded DLC and had to restart the game for it to activate. So I did and I couldn't see anything added.

I hadn't downloaded DLC so it was probably a glitch. Has anyone else had this or is it just me?

This happened to me as well yesterday. I had downloaded Magic 2012 for my xbox and got this same message after it had finished downloaded.

Or a completely random occurance? If you download DLC or something for ANOTHER game, it shouldn't tell you that your game just got new DLC. Granted if Duke Nukem was weird like that and let me have powers from the DLC/Arcade games I download. That would be badass.

That pinball ego boost is going to be a bitch. I'm terrible at it. Did the pool, slots, poker, and alien abortion with ease. Going to give air hockey a try today, but it's so sluggish that it might also be an issue.

Air hockey is really tough. I did it for about a half hour straight and I still can't get it.

The most I've gotten for pinball is like 300,000 points.

Managed to get the ego boosts for both last night, but screw the achievement for getting 1,000,000 points on pinball.

The air hockey is only hard because the controls are so sluggish that half the time you knock the puck into your own goal by mistake. Granted so does the idiot you're playing. It also doesn't help matters that the guy you're facing hits like a fairy and half the time the puck glides back to his side of the table.

Beat it on insane so all I have left is that pinball shit now.

Found a nice easy way to beat the energy leach though. Just take the freeze ray and fire it once. Yes, it'll put you near death too, but it'll also put the boss as flashing red. Then just fire a rocket, swim up, and hit the action sequence. Takes like 30 seconds.

Got to the boss at the Hive and started playing Mass Effect 2 again.. its fun and good for some nostalgia but the 2 weapon limit is brutal specially when it comes to picking specialty guns.. I'm a sniper rifle kind of guy but do I really want to carry the rail gun over the rocket launcher??

I'm sure i'll end up beating it but for now its on the back burner..

I thought the demo of this sucked, and the reviews put me off even further.

However, I rented it and have spent all week playing it. Only need to finish 9 more levels on Insane for the platinum trophy.

The loading times are horrible and you'll die a couple of times due to the low response rate of the controls, but the humor alone is enough to carry this entire game and make it a fun experience.

The game is being patched on the PC to allow you to carry 4 weapons instead of just 2. No word on if they will do this for the console versions but I'd imagine they would.

I like having 2 weapons, plus pipe bombs, explosives and roid rage fists

On a gamepad at least, it's easy to quickly switch to your second gun knowing exactly what it is. If Duke had 6 guns on him you'd die all the time cycling through weapons trying to find your shotgun in a tight spot. On PC you probably wouldn't have that problem.

Duke Nukem Forever is awesome

Am I the only person who actually liked it? All the reviews when the game came out were bad so I held off on playing it until now. Man, good thing I dont listen to reviews...this game is awesome.

Sure, there are some (valid) flaws that reviews pointed out, like the 2 gun limit, but other then that, the game is the most fun I've had with a single player FPS in years. The 2 gun limit doesn't really affect the gameplay that much.

It's just an extremely fun game and I've had zero problems with it so far.

Or do I just like bad games? (I liked Gothic 3 more than Oblivion so...)

None of the reviews were bad, it's just that it wasn't seen as a particularly great FPS. I tend to agree with them. The over the top humor doesn't really do anything for me, and without that, it's a pretty average shooter, imo.

I enjoyed Duke Nukem Forever a lot too. I think if it had been released a couple years earlier, it would have received a lot more praise.

A lot of the negatives are pretty hypocritical, things like regenerating health and the two gun limit. While games like CoD have those same things, and yet are given loads of love.

The single player reminded me a lot of Half Life, and I loved it. It was just released too late.

A lot of us were hoping for a balls-to-the-wall, health pack grabbing, as many weapons as you an carry game with maps that weren't effectively wide corridors. If you want health regen and 2 weapon carry, you have CoD (which I also dislike, I hate that whole mechanic.) Also would have helped if it was slightly funny.

I didn't say the single player was Half Life, nor did I say it was as good as Half Life. It had action sections mixed with puzzle sections (Albeit very average puzzles). Thus it reminded me of Half Life, and that's the extent of the comparison.

The game would have been better if the whole thing was like the final boss fight. Just excessively outrageous the entire time. The only other memorable level is being shrunk in the Duke Burger.

I think 3D Realms made the mistake of trying to make Duke like current FPS, which is just something that won't work. Duke is just held to a different standard.

Either way, just consider the new Serious Sam game as Duke Nukem Forever and everything will be alright.

I think 3DR/Gearbox were screwed either way. If they left it as 100% "old school", people would complain that it was outdated and sucked because of it. If they had made it 100% modern, people would complain that they shouldn't have modernized it and say it sucks because they updated it.

I really need to hurry up and finish the game. I think I'm almost done with the story.

The loading times are horrible and you'll die a couple of times due to the low response rate of the controls, but the humor alone is enough to carry this entire game and make it a fun experience.

It'll cost 800 MSP or $9.99 on PS3/Steam.

I should probably get around to finishing the game. Pretty sure I'm about 98% of the way through SP.

Got this game through Goozex. Put it on the hardest setting because that is how I like to play games. Gives me the old NES feeling of achievement when I pass a difficult section. However, doing that you expect to die a lot in the game. But waiting almost a minute each time after you die made this game unplayable for me. Got through maybe 1/4 of it before getting fed up with the load screen everytime you die.
