Your added point about Enter Sandman is also ridiculous because Metallica is a much bigger and more popular act than Marilyn Manson. I wouldn't put Metallica on a level with the bands I mentioned, but they'd be considered far more timeless than Marilyn Manson.

I personally hate Metallica but their inclusion is far more warranted than Marilyn Manson. I would probably consider Metallica as a band that has stood the test of time, but certainly not one who is loved by everyone because they have A LOT of detractors and aren't exactly "canonized" like some of the acts I have mentioned, however, I can see the basis for their inclusion. There's a ton of metalheads out there who hate on Metallica. If they can't be universally liked (for the most part) in their own genre, I'd say they're disqualified here.

Not to say that there aren't people out there that hate a lot of these tracks. It's kind of a stupid debate in general. If you asked 100 random people on the street, I'd be 50 of them would know "Enter Sandman" and maybe a handful would know "The Beautiful People."

I'm not arguing the merits of either band here, the point is the songs have to have stood the test of time and have to be loved by everyone. Marilyn Manson hasn't done either of those. Maybe for a group of people who like Industrial Metal (wherever those people are), but that's a very small fraction of people.

Shit, if you're going to include Marilyn Manson then I'd have to include The Smiths, Joy Division, The Cure and bands like that because they're timeless for me.

I don't really know if anyone fits this description exactly. Probably The Beatles. Because who the fuck hates The Beatles? If you do you're psychotic.

If Enter Sandman (which is hated by most fans of the band) can be here without people bitching, so can The Beautiful People.
Chill man, no need to get hostile. Perhaps Frazor means they arent as much timeless classics as the ones listed above in the thread, but I do agree that they are well known and fairly liked by anyone into the rock/punk/metal scence at all.

Frazor IMHO is more of an indy rock sort of guy, so your preferences seem to clash a bit.

Thats the thing with musical taste, everyone has one and very few are exactly the same, people who like rap/hip hop may not necessarily like metal/rock and vice versa.

Its all about what appeals to you and what you enjoy. Save canned pop (Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Bieber, etc which any person with a few brain cells know is complete shit)

Oh and protip, DMac and myself are two of the biggest Metallica fans on here and both incredibly enjoy Enter Sandman.

So

If you're mentioning Marilyn Manson in that capacity, then it would make sense. However, if you're saying any Marilyn Manson song is timeless, loved by everyone and iconic along the lines of something by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin or Nirvana or whatever then I'd have to say you are sorely mistaken.
This is a good comparison of what I stated above, there are some good Manson songs which in a decade or two I would say are considered classics of this generation.

Sweet Dreams while a cover is among the best covers I have ever heard.
