Generic wrestlers. What could you do with a guy like Drew McIntyre? (and other generic wrestlers)

Usually your average generic wrestler is given the push by putting a title on him. But now that the novelty has worn off, what would you do with Drew McIntyre now that he's no longer the IC Champ?

All he says is I'm am the Chosen One. Chosen for what? I'm not buying it no more. Sure he's got the look, but has no personality. Wade Barrett seems a tad higher, he just has a presence and is very good on the mic.

Another example is Chris Masters. Once his Masterlock Challenge schtick wore off, he ended up jiggling his tits. Comedic fodder.

Seems like the usual routine. Introduce a guy who has the look but no personality, and once the novelty wears off, they end up going the comedic route. Vladimir Koslov (forget his name) is good shit now though with his alliance with Santino (and his latest promo on RAW, the Tea Party one). Mark Jindrak is other example of your average generic wrestler.

So what would you do with the following superstars once their title push is over with:

Drew McIntyre-

Wade Barrett-

Sheamus-

Chris Masters-

Feel free to list down other superstars who fit this list....

legend85...jobber to the stars

Reason why Edge is my favorite wrestlers right now is that he could've been a midcarder for life, but he somehow (not even realizing it) took it upon himself to create controversy behind the scenes, and his greatest career move would have to be boning Lita. His stock went up just by doing this.

That's what guys like Drew McIntyre needs to do. Somehow create a buzz within the IWC. They gotta make us care about them, or they end up being jobber to the stars, much like legend85 is to guys like me and Ferret. YA FEEL ME?!

There's nothing wrong with generic wrestlers. I think people like Vince McMahon and Dixie Carter look down on them, because they don't fit in their vision, which I think is unfair to some fans, who appreciate their wrestling ability more, which is why I rather have generic wrestlers putting on a great match.

Too bad that doesn't make money...which is the whole point of a promoter running a promotion.

Kinda unfair to Sheamus (edit: didn't originally specify who I meant after I dropped the failed joke above... sorry), aren't ya Naitch? Wasn't his fault his push got derailed. Skin tone aside, he had the body build of a future champ and the charisma to back it up. He got the monsterous, dangerous heel gimmick going full swing, then BAM! He wins the belt, and they make him a huge pussy who doesn't defend... only to lose it unceremoniously quickly. Oh, he's now a monster again, with the "Firery Red Hand" of... wait... oh, we're not doing that now? Okay, now he's a jobber? What the hell???

Actually, what I would do with a generic wrestler is give him a capable mouthpiece and a direction. I know what a prodigy to the business he became and all, but could you imagine how fast Brock Lesnar would have been "future endeavored" if he weren't paired with one Paul Heyman to speak for him at the beginning of his career? A lot of these guys are hired and left to flounder if they aren't instantly over because of their looks. It's like they're put in an unrealistic position to be instantly marketable, and if they arent, creative can't find anything for them. I don't see how it's soooo hard to find something for everybody to do if you hire a bunch of people who's only job it is to do for your company is come up with storylines. Storylines used to be made up all the time for people that weren't feuding over belts. The only story I can even think of like that right now is Aksana. Hell, WWE can't even think of anything useful to do with Chavo besides...

Sorry, I ranted.

Yeah, bring back managers. And side stores. Possibly even NAMED TAG TEAMS if for nothing else than to clear up some of the clutter of the tons of singles competitors doing nothing in WWE. One of the most iconic tag teams in the New Age Outlaws came about from two singles guys who, for all intents and purposes, weren't doing jack shit at the time of their forming. Maybe something similar is lurking just around the corner from the underused talent pool.

How is Wade, Sheamus or Drew generic? They're foreign. Their customs are different to yours.

Sorry, I didn't insert Sheamus's name in there cuz I was refering to him as generic. I just popped his name in there, just to see what you'd guys think he should do now that he already finished up his title run and most likely won't have another run with it.

Come to think of it, he really isn't generic at all. APOLOGIES IS ALL I ASK!

McIntyre seemed to have a Goldberg-esque push going at first, but that came apart in short and embarrassing order. I completely agree when you say he lacks personality; management sees it that way too I think. It's the only real explanation there is for why his pushes have died out and he's been fed to pretty much everyone.

I gotta say, Guycott's got a point when it comes to having a good mouthpiece. An otherwise bland and boring wrestler, especially one of the big beefy "monster" types, can really get some good heat going if they've got a good manager who does the talking for them. If WWE is still looking for guys who have "the look," then they need someone with "the voice" to tell the crowd why they should care about him. Go out and find another Bobby Heenan or Jim Cornette or Paul Heyman, hell, even another Sonny Onoo or Bill Alfonso, and I guarantee if they stick around to build up their own reputation, then they'll be able to increase a 'generic' wrestler's stock just by association.

Why doesn't Zeke Jackson have a mouthpiece right now ? I realize he's a face and most faces' dont have moutpieces, but right now he's basically a muscular Mark Henry.

Try and get HHH to teach Drew an extra thing or two about "developing" a match. Barrett and Sheamus are fine, just keep them as relevant midcarders with long reigns as U.S/IC titles. Not a fan of Masters

And why is he a face since he returned? He could have worked better as a heel but then again I haven't seen much of him since the return.

Chris Masters jiggles a great tit.

I think Barrett is going to be around for a while. If Cena is not turning heel anytime soon, I predict a long title reign for him.

But with these other guys, there's only so much space on the card for top guys, so you have a lot of mid carders that come and go. The lucky few get pushes to the main event. The WWE likes to change thier mind on guys a lot, so it doesn't surprise me anymore to see a guy get a mega push for 6 months and then buried for the second half of the year
