I can't get past 2. How the fuck do you do a combo with a cancel, let alone a hyper with a cancel?

I was so hype for this game until I played the arcade mode and saw it for what it really was and will eventually come down to, back and forth exchanges between 2 guys doing 79 hit combos because of one mistake. Sold it to my cousin like the next day, Fun I guess, but to me I found it annoying.
