Like when Punk, Teddy Long and Scott Armstrong "screwed" The Undertaker (leading up to the comedically great "Buckle up, Teddy!" bit), and it was made apparent that Vince had something to do with it...until it was entirely dropped.
I kind of thought that they were going to do some sort of "Corporation" type angle, with Vince McMahon wanting CM Punk to be the World Champion because of his straight-edge lifestyle and being a "good role model" for the company. I believe Kane was a heel at the time, and a couple of years previous (I know this is stretching it) there was talks of having Vince and Kane connected on-screen. I thought that we'd get CM Punk, Kane and Drew McIntyre as Vince McMahon's heel charge on SmackDown!. We didn't get that, though, and a little while later, it was rumoured that Festus would be paired with CM Punk -- and then we got The Straight-Edge Society.
