Austin baby, Austin!

So I've been rollin through all the Raw is War eps of 1999 (Ah memories). The crowd is amazing! They knew when to cheer or boo. FUCK basically anything back then was "HOLY SHIT A FINISHER/SIGNATURE!" So I busted out my old N64, popped in No Mercy and realized Stone Cold had an awful moveset. Watching the old Attitude Era I noticed the game got it right.. right? How did Austin get over with such bland moveset?
Agree, disagree, discuss.. What was it about him that got over, coz it wasn't a bunch of suplexes. He was a story based character. His fueds were primary over his ability. Don't get me started on the ol' piledriver attempt on the concrete. He was always considered a brawler... Now I never saw him before his Ringmaster days but he's.. well bland...
