When you realize the costs and constant updates, maintenance, and new content for MMOs, it is not excessive at all. It is just the nature of the genre.

I'm assuming GW2 is going to have SOME sort of cash shop; either that, or they're going to churn out pay expansions every 6 months to a year. Which essentially equates to a monthly fee in the long run anyways.

Yeah I understand, but I cant personally justify a monthly fee for a game. I understand the server costs must be enormous at the very least.
